The NOVA Affinity Group Presents: Cultivating Donor Advised Funds and Special Gifts – A conversation with the Community Foundation for Northern Virginia
Thursday, April 21, 2022, 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM EDT
Category: Events

If your organization received a gift from a donor advised fund (DAF) and didn’t know how to acknowledge, cultivate, or connect with the donors, rest assured you’re not alone. As charitable deduction laws have evolved over time, so have the prevalence of DAFs to accommodate these changes. In 2020 alone, $34.67 billion grant dollars were awarded through donor advised funds. In this session hosted by the Community Foundation for Northern Virginia, a significant DAF provider in the NOVA region, you will learn the best ways to cultivate and connect with donors giving through a DAF, along with other ways to encourage donors to give via non-traditional gifts.

Event Speakers:

Stephanie Valdes, Director of Donor Relations
Bio: Stephanie joined the Community Foundation team in late September 2021 as the Director of Donor Relations. She works closely with donor advised and scholarship fundholders – processing grants/scholarships, connecting donors with organizations, and building relationships with the Hispanic/Latinx community. Stephanie enjoys watching “Tidying Up with Marie Kondo”, walking outside, and volunteering with local nonprofits.

Josiah Day, Director of Development
Josiah has been with the Community Foundation for two and a half years, currently serving as its Director of Development. In this capacity, he works closely with donors to meaningfully invest in the community, and to build permanent endowments and assets to meet the everchanging needs of the region. In his spare time, you can find Josiah watching basketball or playing with his two-year old daughter—often at the same time.

The NOVA Affinity Group provides networking and professional development opportunities for fundraisers and consultants who live or work in NOVA.
